Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Albéric Théry joins France Galop

France Galop – 8 January 2024, France ~ Veterinary surgeon Dr. Albéric Théry (45) is a graduate of the Toulouse Veterinary School. He joins France Galop as head of the passport and equine welfare department starting on 8 January 2024. He succeeds Dr. Sonia Wittreck.

Following two medical and surgical internships in France and in the United States of America, Dr. Théry worked as a veterinarian in Ireland before moving to the Middle East where he became the Senior Veterinarian of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, where he was in charge of racing and equestrian competitions including show jumping, dressage and endurance. He is also an official veterinarian and sampling veterinarian for the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI).

Dr. Théry has acquired expertise in reproduction, sports medicine, orthopaedics and health control. He has also developed specific expertise in the regulatory area of racing, notably anti-doping control, as he worked for more than 15 years as a senior veterinarian for an equestrian authority.

Dr. Stephanie Chapman, who is in charge of the equine welfare (controls) department, and Geneviève Sœurs, who heads the Passport department, will assist him.
