4 December 2022 ~ On a packed Sunday night at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, US-bred and 2022 Dubai Kahayla Classic winner, First Classs, beat the unbeatable favorite, Lady Princess. The two had met in Paris in October and at Goodwood in July with Lady Princess the victor in those two races.
This evening, with a quick pace over the longer distance of 2200 metres, First Classs under Ronan Thomas was settled in 4th and then 5th, while Lady Princess took her usual trip to the back to wait to polish off the field in the last metres. This time as the marker for 400 metres flashed past, First Classs moved up decidedly while Lady Princess made her bid under Jim Crowley, but this time she came short of picking off the leader and First Classs made it a positive win with Lady Princess a length to the rear in the time of 2:26:74. Third place was closed by Hameen under Dane O’Neill.
