Trainer Jerenesto Torrez is always one to watch in the Arabian races. His charges win a large percentage them, and you can almost count on a win from his stable in the Grade 3, $30,000 Texas Arabian Derby at a mile and a sixteenth this Sunday. Torrez trains three of the five starters including Rosebrook Farms LLC’s RB RICH LYKE ME, winner of five of his 10 career starts. He is the 2-5 morning line choice. The only other winner in the race is Garrett and Lisa Ford’s AA RICH MOTHER, also trained by Torrez. The Derby is the scheduled third race.

The Grade 3, $30,000 Texas Arabian Oaks is one mile and is the fifth race on the card. Byerley Racing LLC’s RB KINETIC, the only stakes winner in the field, is the morning line favorite, but she has never competed at the distance. Jon R. Henningsgard’s UPTOWN LADY ARABELLA could get the win if distance proves to be a factor for the favorite.
