14 April 2020, UK ~ The Dubai International Arabian Races (DIAR) preparation races at Bro Park in Sweden and Duindigt in Holland have been cancelled for 2020.
Three races were set to be staged at both Bro Park and Duindigt on Sunday, 14 June and Sunday, 28 June, respectively. DIAR prep races were also set to be staged in Rome this weekend (18, 19 April), but that fixture was cancelled earlier in the year due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Richard Lancaster, Shadwell Stud Director, said: “In light of everything that is happening at the moment and with so many imponderables at this stage, we concluded that the right decision would be to cancel the prep races in Sweden and Holland this year.
“It is a great pity, but the world has never seen anything of this magnitude and people’s health is, and must be, the number one priority.”
A decision on whether DIAR Day – Arabian racing’s flagship event – will take place at Newbury on Sunday, 26 July will be made at a later date.
