Qatar Goodwood Festival Will Challenge Top Runners

Five Group 1 Winners to duel at Goodwood

29 July 2019, Goodwood, UK ~ The Arabian Racing Organization is looking at an exciting field of eight runners that have been declared for the Qatar International Stakes (Gr1PA), to be run as part of the Qatar Goodwood Festival on 31 July 2019.

They lineup includes five individual Group 1 PA winners, and ready to run are the last two winners, Muraaqib and Tayf, as well as Ebraz, runner-up on both occasions. Also declared is Rodess Du Loup, winner both the French and the English Derby’s last year, as well as 2016 UK Derby winner Lightning Bolt.

The prize fund for the Qatar International Stakes, the most valuable race in the UK Arabian racing calendar, is £400,000 with £200,000 to the winner.

Genny Haynes, ARO Commercial and Finance Director said: “Every year the quality of entries for this race exceeds our expectations. We are delighted that we have the first four home from last year’s race which is always a very competitive event as you would expect with a such a valuable prize.”

She continued. “It is an honour for ARO to stage international Arabian racing at this level for the fifth consecutive year. The addition of this race at such a prestigious event in the UK racing calendar is a huge boost to the profile of the sport, both domestically and worldwide.”
