AHS Centenary Marathon at Rowley Mile on 7 October 2018

The Arab Horse Society Marks Centenary of 1918 - 2018

The Arab Horse Society Centenary Marathon will take place on Sunday, 7 October 2018, over the historic Rowley Mile course in Newmarket, UK, courtesy of The Jockey Club and the Arab Horse Society of Great Britain. The Royal Studs of Bahrain are kindly sponsoring the race with £1,000 to the winner and prize money awarded to 10th place finish.

Entries are in place for the 26-miles race, which is open to any breed with the minimum age for riders of 16 years. Owners and riders need not be members of ARO or the Arab Horse Society or Endurance GB or SERC.

The race begins at 11:00 am with a pre-race parade at 10:45. Entry is free for spectators.

The Rowley Mile is the most historic course in England, founded by King Charles 11 in the 1660s, and we are very honoured that the Jockey Club has allowed use of this hallowed turf for our Centenary race,” said Anne Brown, Chairman, AHS Centenary committee.

Fred Barrelet and his experienced team from Rossdales will look after the vetting, with a pre-race check on the Sunday at 9am, and a midway vetting. The winner will be the first horse ridden over the finish line, subject to passing a veterinary inspection.
