Dream Pearl and Sand Victor in battle for points for Emirates Breeders Gold Rush Handicap Stakes
12 August 2018, Santa Rosa, California ~ On Saturday, 11 August 2018, at the Sonoma County Fair in Santa Rosa, California, Dream Pearl held off stablemate and rival Sand Victor to win by almost two lengths in the second leg of the Emirates Breeders Gold Rush Handicap II.
True Grit set the early pace as Pedro Terrero struggled with Dream Pearl when she broke ready to run. Terrero checked the mare with difficulty, but then they were running last. Around the bend Terrero went 5 wide and gave the mare the okay to go. And go she did, catching leader, Sand Victor, in a driving run to finish two lengths ahead at the post. Third to finish was Raineing Sand under Shawn Spikes. Fourth was True Grit SA, and RB Hot Risk came in fifth. Win time was 1:52:21 for the mile race.
The first three to finish were a virtual repeat of the mile race at Santa Rosa last year (2017).
Dream Pearl (Burning Sand x Triumph’s Pearl) is owned by Dorothy Burt, Evelyn Call, Cory Soltau, Terri Eaton, and was bred by Joseph A and Betty J Gillis. Dream Pearl and Sand Victor are trained by Terri Eaton.
