The 7-year-old gelding by Aim South out of Novelynn by Patriot Missle jumped well, but the inside rail was soon crowded with traffic. Heading around the bend the chestnut slipped out five wide to regain air and took the advantage to the lead. Looking solid to the finish line, Madjestic caught fire in the last 200 meters and just missed out on the duel for the win. Win time for the 6 Furlongs was 01:21:28.

Southerland is trained by Candelario Villamar, and owned by Nicole Ruggeri. Terri Eaton trained numbers 2 and 3 in the field.
