2 June, Toulouse, France ~ Toulouse, France again had top racing on Friday, 1 June 2018, where Deryan in the able hands of Alexandre Gavilan, tasted success in the Prix Norniz, a 1600 metre race for maidens. Deryan, a three-year-old colt by Mahabb out of Haboob, made it a sweet victory for HH Sheikh Mansoor’s Yas Horse Racing Management and trainer Didier Guillemin. The trainer saddled a 1-2-3 in this €16,000 race.
Deryan finished 1.75 lengths ahead of Garrafah under Olivier Peslier with Champasak under Mickael Forest another 3.5 lengths behind. The winning time was 1:52.90.
A second success for the HH Sheikh Mansoor-owned Yas Horse Racing Management came in the eighth race, the Prix Fedora-Wathba Stallions Cup run under the umbrella of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival. Baseel (Munjiz et et Assrar) trained by Thomas Demeaulte and ridden by Valentin Seguy scored first in the 12-horse race.
Baseel finished 2.5 lengths ahead of Al Shaqab’s Gtnah under Julien Auge while Poupee Du Loup under Olivier Peslier finished third in the €16,000 race. The race was run over a distance of 1600 metres and the winning time was 1.51.
Earlier in the Prix Hippodrome de Toulouse the winner over 2,000 metres was 4-year-old Akoya (Muqatil Al Khalidiah et A L’ombre Del Sol) trained by Karin Van Den Bos and ridden by Jean-Baptiste Hamel. The filly edged out NO AND NO AL MAURY trained by D. Watrigant and ridden in by Roberto-Carlos Montenegro and Amjiz De Piboul by 2.5 lengths trained by Mmme E. Bernard and ridden by Ioritz Mendizaba. Winning time was 2:22.0.
