Three days of mourning have been declared
28 January 2018, Abu Dhabi, UAE ~ Following the death of HH Sheikha Hessa Bint Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the mother of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, the race meeting scheduled on 28 January at Abu Dhabi has been postponed.
A statement from the Ministry of Presidential Affairs confirmed Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, mother of the country’s President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, passed away on Sunday (28th January).
His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was elected as second President of the United Arab Emirates, the state that was announced on the 2nd of December 1971. He is also the sixteenth ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the largest of the seven emirates forming the Union.
His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan came to be president of the federal state, and became the ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on the 3rd of November 2004, succeeding to his father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who passed away on the 2nd of November 2004.
