ARO June Racing Program

DIAR Program at CHELMSFORD CITY

The Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) welcomed three overseas entries and a further 17 domestic entries to the first of two UK prep races for Dubai International Arabian Races (DIAR) which will be held at Chelmsford City Racecourse on 1 June. With ten entries per races, the two DIAR prep races support the Hatta International Stakes (for Fillies and Mares) and the Za’abeel International Stakes, run over their DIAR distances of 1m2f and 6f respectively.

Gemma Cobb, ARO Racing Operations Executive said: “ARO is delighted to have attracted international entries for the two DIAR prep races. Both trainers supported DIAR last year and we hope they will do so again.”

Dubai International Arabian Races, to be run at Newbury on July 30 this year, is the highlight of the UK Arabian racing season and the addition of the prep races series across Europe has boosted international participation. The bonus scheme rewarding any of the first three home in each prep race that subsequently win one of the bonus races on DIAR is another welcome initiative. We look forward to returning Chelmsford City with these two races which open the thoroughbred card on June 1, as we received a very warm reception from both staff and racegoers to the full fixtures we held there last year,” Cobb finished.

ROYAL CAVALRY OF OMAN PREMIER HANDICAP AT DONCASTER

The Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) announced 13 entries for the Royal Cavalry of Oman Premier Handicap to be run over 2 miles at Doncaster on 3 June. The Royal Cavalry of Oman is a long-term supporter of Arabian racing in the UK and maintain their UK sponsorship for this season having increased their support in 2016.

The highlight for the Royal Cavalry is The Sultanate of Oman Raceday, a full fixture, which returns to Royal Windsor racecourse on 28 August, Bank Holiday Monday. This compliments a range of single races run on Thoroughbred cards, from the lower levels to the highest, of which the Doncaster race is the first this season. It also includes The Royal Cavalry of Oman Clarendon Stakes, a Group 3 run over 5 furlongs at Newbury on 19 August.

ARO Racing Operations Executive Gemma Cobb commented: “ARO welcomes the continued support of The Royal Cavalry of Oman who have been part of Arabian racing in the UK for more than ten years. Their sponsorship got off to a successful start with six of eight races at our Taunton fixture last Sunday. In addition, since returning to the UK training ranks, they have had winner at each meeting and horses placed, and we wish them continued success throughout the season.”

We also thank the racecourse teams at Taunton, Doncaster, Bath, Newbury and Windsor for their support of the Royal Cavalry’s sponsorship in 2017.”
