ARO Sees Continued Increase in Declarations

Sponsored races well supported for Taunton

18 May 2017, UK ~ The Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) announced 57 Purebred Arabian declarations were received for the second ARO full fixture of 2017 which will be held at Taunton racecourse on Sunday, 21 May.

The Taunton meeting features an eight race card with six races sponsored by long-time ARO sponsor, The Royal Cavalry of Oman, and a race apiece sponsored by Forta Stud and the Heritage Arabian Racing Club (HARC) – both organisations have increased their UK sponsorship this year.

ARO Racing Operations Executive Gemma Cobb commented: “ARO values the continued support of The Royal Cavalry of Oman, who also made a winning return with their UK trained horses at our first fixture. Their support and that of Forta Stud and HARC enables ARO to provide a diverse race calendar giving participants the option to race at all levels. ARO welcomes the continued increase in Purebred Arabian runners at our fixtures this year and we look forward to a successful meeting at Taunton this Sunday.”

The Arabian Racing Organisation Limited, is the sole Arabian Racing Authority in the UK, operating with the support and permission of the British Horseracing Authority.

The Royal Cavalry of Oman was founded in the early 1970’s with just 20 horses. Today it fulfils a managerial role for all equestrian activities including racing and overseeing breeding programmes, as well as providing horses for ceremonial duties for which they are famous worldwide.

Forta Stud operates a small-scale breeding program, based in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, producing Purebred Arabian horses for racing and endurance.

The Heritage Arabian Racing Club was founded in February 2015 by HH Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan with the intention of using racing as a way of preserving the classic purebred Arabian horse and ensuring a diversity of bloodlines in the sport.
