12 May 2017, Algeria ~ Algeria is the latest country to benefit from the support of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival as two Wathba Stallions races will be run in Algeria on Saturday, 13 May 2017.
The two races will be part of the Wathba Stallions Cup (previously run as the Wathba Stud Farm Cup) race series and will be run on the Al Kharuba racecourse in Algeria.
The Festival unveiled the renaming of the Wathba Stud Farm Cup as the Wathba Stallions Cup at the World Arabian Horse Racing Conference which was held 2-8 May in Marrakesh, Morocco. Wathba Stallions is the breeding arm of Purebred Arabian horses of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
Ms. Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Chairperson of the International Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA), Chairperson of Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committees in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) said, “We will be starting with two Wathba Stallions in Algeria on Saturday and then will have another race on 14 October on the same racecourse. These races will carry prize funds of €5,000 each and is aimed to promote Purebred Arabian racing at the grassroots level.”
