30 October, 2015, France ~ Mabrooka, owned by HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan won the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Group 2) – the French Arabian Breeders Challenge for Fillies on Wednesday, 28 October in Toulouse, France.
The Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Group 2) – the French Arabian Breeders Challenge Pouliches (for Fillies) – 3 yrs+ was the last race in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup series of races before the 8 November finale when the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup Jewel Crown (Group 1), the world’s richest race for Purebred Arabians will be held in Abu Dhabi.
Mabrooka (Mahabb) under Thierry Jarnet scored the win for trainer Didier Guillemin when she finished ahead of an 11-horse field which contested the 1600 metre, Group 2 Euros 45,000 race. Mabrooka finished ahead of Worood under David Morisson while another filly owned by HH Sheikh Mansoor, Shakrra under Julien Auge’ and trained by Thomas Fourcy, finished third.
Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club presented the trophies to the winning connections on behalf of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival.
“We congratulate HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the fine win by Mabrooka. Mabrooka had under the same jockey won the Euros 100,000 Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches (Group 1 PA) , another Fillies contest, and this win reiterates what a class act she is,” Al Nuaimi said.
In other top races on the card, the French Arabian Breeders Challenge Classic Gr 2 at 2200m was won by FARH (Nizam), trained by Elizabeth Bernard and ridden by Gregory Benoist for Al Shaqab racing. Farh was followed in second by Sir Bani Yas, owned by HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and number three in was Loraa, owned by Sheikh Monsoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The French Arabian Breeders Challenge Poulains (colts) Gr 2 at 1600m was won by Aba’ath (Amer) ridden by Julien Auge’ and trained by Thomas Fourcy for Al Shaqab Racing. The Amer colt was followed in by Ziyadd, owned by Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and third was Lightning Bolt, owned by L. Waterland.
