Dubai International Arabian Races Begins Season in Rome

The Arabian races were the Premio Dubai International Arabian Races 2015, €25,000 - WAHO for 4YOs + - 1,900m, and the Premio MADJANI Shadwell Arabian Stallions, €25,000 for 3 YOs - 1500m

14 May 2015, Rome Italy ~ The 11th edition of Dubai International Arabian Race Day began on Sunday, 10 May, at the Capannelle Racecourse in the Italian capital of Rome under the directives and patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Merza Al Sayegh, said that the day included a mixed card of Thoroughbred and Arabian Racing with a feature race of the Group 1 Premio Presidente della Republica for Thoroughbreds.

The Premio Shadwell Arabian Stallions race was won by Tornado ByZucchele (Zucchele x Iapomica by Lap) owned by A.E. Pinna and ridden by A. Fadda. Tintu Di Gallura was second by two lengths and Tundra Di Gallura finished third in the seven horse field.

In the Premio Dubai International Arabian Races Conditions race Orogiallo (Bonorvesu x Trattalias) finished first out of the 13 horse field. Owned by P. Pierini and trained by M. Migheli, jockey A.D. Michelle made his win by a neck over second Jelabi with Nasco coming in third.

Al Sayegh noted that this event is the result of the cooperation between entities including the UAE embassy in Rome, Jebel Ali racecourse, which has concluded a strategic relation with Shadwell Stables, and a successful partnership with the Capannelle racecourse for over 10 years. Emirates Airline is an important sponsor as well in Arabian Racing around the world.
