14 May 2015, Bordeaux, France ~ Mabrooka, a three-year-old filly owned by HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, made a winning debut with over her fancied rivals in the Prix Djelfour (Conditions) race held in Bordeaux, France, on Monday, 11 May.
Trained by Didier Guillemin for owner HH Sheikh Mansoor, who is also the breeder of the Mahabb filly, Mabrooka was under the direction of jockey Alexandre Gavilan and finished ahead of two favorites in a field that included one other filly. Mabrooka finished two lengths ahead of the colt Amjad Al Aziz under Jean-Bernard Eyquem with third place Cakouet De Bozouls under Jean-Baptiste Hamel. The second filly entered, Lina Al Mels, finished fifth in the six horse field. Mabrooka completed the 7-furlong (1400m) distance in 1:37:76. The total prize fund for the Prix Djelfour was €18,000.
“We are very happy with this winning debut for Mabrooka. She did very well against some highly fancied colts and we are looking forward to more progress from this Mahabb filly,” said Mussallam Al Amri, General Manager of Wathba Stud Farm.
