1 April 2015, Doha, Qatar ~ H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Qassy (Mared Al Sahra x The Write Stuff) posted a thrilling victory over Shaklan in the Rodat Al Maida Cup, a Pure Arabian Conditions race run over 1800m, which featured the eight-event card at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club on 1 April. The Jassim Al Ghazali trained Qassy was ridden to victory by jockey Harry Bentley.
Harry Bentley made it two for two on Injaaz Stud’s Al Marboush (Amer x Qadira De Faust), winning the Local Bred Pure Arabian Maiden Plate. Al Marboush set the pace for the race but at the 200m mark Bentley took command, bringing home the Jassim al-Ghazali trainee to win by three lengths, leaving second to Ghazwat Dukhan.
In a thrilling contest, Jassim Mohamed Al Gazali & Sons owned Al Waab with Salim Golam up rallied strongly to beat stable mate Dheram Al Naif close to home in the Pure Arabian Graduation Plate. Mouwash and Khafouqi completed the frame.
Thoroughbred racing
Mubarak Saeed Aljafai Al Naimi’s Glossy Posse was ridden out by jockey Gerald Avranche to win the Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 75 to 95.
Hassan Ali Abdulmalik owned Bersha shed his maiden status under Evert Pheiffer in the Local Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 60 and below. The Debbie Mountain trained four-year-old bay raced a handy second-third position before stretching out impressively inside the last furlong to win by two lengths.
In another good win for Harry Bentley, he guided the H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani owned Hymenaios to win the Thoroughbred Graduation Plate.
Dhafi Al Ardi Al Marri’s Napinda (Marco Monteriso up) scored an impressive victory in the Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 50 to 70.
And it was four wins for Bentley for the evening as he led Urban Dreamer to win the Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 60 to 80.
