29 November 2014, Dubai ~ On 26 November Emirates Equestrian Centre (EEC) hosted some of the UAE’s top dressage riders in the annual FEI World Dressage Challenge, an international competition that the UAE won in 2012.
The event is designed to allow riders in developing dressage countries that do not have their own dressage Grands Prix to compete against other nations without the expense and time of international travel. Instead of shipping horses to one international venue, horse and rider combinations remain in their home countries while international judges visit and rank competitors based on their performances of set dressage tests.
Countries are divided into geographical zones, with the UAE falling into Zone 4, alongside Cyprus, Greece, Malta and Turkey.
The UAE leg, which is supported by Dubai Equestrian Club, Emirates Equestrian Centre and the Emirates Equestrian Federation was host to 40 competitors.
Abu Dhabi’s W’rsan Stud Manager, Deirdre Hyde, writes: “The FEI World Dressage Challenge on Wednesday had fantastic results for us. Al Mijlas W’rsan ridden by Line Moen is highest ranking of all at Medium level whilst Al Kattar W’rsan also ridden by Line Moen is 4th in Elementary, both sons of Monarch AH. Al Mijlas out of Esbella by Bandos, and Al Khattar out of Lady Steele Amie by Remington Steele. The latter helped put the UAE team into 2nd place in Region 4 less than one point behind Cyprus.”
Congratulations to all supporters of this event.
