8 November 2014, Doha ~ Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi’s La Hoor (Burning Sand- Pettra) proved superior to the opposition winning the Owners Cup, a Local Bred Pure Arabian Conditions race run over seven furlongs on Thursday, 6 November at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC). In the opening event of the day, Umm Qarn’s Hector with Pier Convertino up shed his maiden status with a narrow win in the Local Bred Pure Arabian Maiden Plate. Alban de Mieulle trained Hector held on gamely to win by a neck from a Al Waab while Khrash Al Naif finished third ahead of SS Misk.

Umm Qarn’s Raghed clinched her first career win with a start to finish victory in the Pure Arabian Maiden Plate. Making her second appearance on the racetrack, Mieulle schooled Raghed (Gaetan Faucon astride) made every post a winning one as she stretched away in fine style to win by a one and three fourth length from Haraz Al Naif and Taghya.

Al Moqeerat Stud’s Carina Palace was an impressive winner of the day while annexing the Thoroughbred Graduation Plate. Primitorio finished second ahead of Pay Freeze. Jockey Marvin Suerland was astride the winner.

Mohammed Khamis Al Kaabi owned Blackdown Fair was ridden to victory by jockey Pier Convertino in the Thouroughbred Handicap for horses rated 70 to 90, run over 1400 meters. Goldenrod was three quarter lengths behind in second while Capitan Jack and Tea Leaf finished third and fourth respectively.

Mohammed Kazim Al Ansari & Sons owned Sraab was another impressive winner of the day. Coming from way off the pace, Golam brought Sraab into contention with a smooth run on the outside even as Al Mansoor was shaping like a winner. Once alerted to the task on hand, Sraab just breezed past the opposition to win in taking style. Al Mansoor, Moaddie and Majd completed the frame.

Mohammed Khalid Hamad Ali Al Khalifa owned Seema (Dubawi – The Sound of Music) was ridden to a confident victory by jockey Gerald Avranche in the Thoroughbred Conditions race over 2400 meters. Right to Dream was second ahead of Impound.
