14 September 2014, Longchamp, France ~ The Qatar Cup – Prix Dragon (Gr2 PA), a trial race for the Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr1), gave Dahor de Brugère (Dahess x Dormadora) a look at the open track ahead. Under jockey JB Eyquem, the entry by Al Shaqab held off all attacks in the straight, notably to win the large piece of the €25,000 Prize Money for the 2,000m contest. Aden came a close second and Valentin brought in the third.
Absent from the track from August 2012 to July 2014, Dahor de Brugère remains unbeaten in six starts. The victory was an emotional one for trainer Jean-François Bernard who explained: “He is an extraordinary horse. We will see about a Group 1… It wasn’t difficult to get him back to his best but we took our time. We check his tendons ten times a day. A champion is a champion!”
