Five month season to include increase in Al Ain days; Dubai World Cup Carnival begins January 8
Thursday May 15, 2014 ~ The dates for the 2014/15 UAE racing season have been approved by His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Emirates Racing Authority (ERA).
The upcoming UAE season will increase to 59 race meetings, two more than last year. Al Ain Racecourse, located in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, will host eight race meetings, an increase of three meetings over the 2013-14 racing season.
Jebel Ali Racecourse will start the season on Friday 31 October, with Sharjah Racecourse following with the second meeting on Saturday 1 November. The first meeting at Meydan Racecourse will be held on Thursday 6th November. Al Ain will host the first of its eight meetings on Friday 7th November and Abu Dhabi’s season will start on Sunday 9th November.
International racing will kick off with the Dubai World Cup Carnival 2014 at Meydan Racecourse on Thursday 8th January. The 20th running of the Dubai World Cup race day, sponsored by Emirates Airline, will be held on Saturday March 28.
The 2013-14 UAE race season will include: Al Ain Racecourse, eight meetings; Meydan Racecourse will have the greatest number of dates, 19; Abu Dhabi Racecourse, 15 racenights, Jebel Ali Racecourse 11 dates; and Sharjah Racecourse, six days of racing.
